Bio

Anna Buchko (Anja Kakotlaka), born in Minsk, Belarus, in 1992, is an illustrator, author, and multidisciplinary artist whose material is an amalgam of her dreams – which she remembers well- otherworldly fantasies, and memories from childhood and adult life experiences.

Her primary techniques include acrylic painting, watercolor, and digital illustration; complementary ones include ceramics, story writing, lino cutting, and 2D animation.

More recently, projects have been realized in the form of books.

After art school, she chose linguistics, which later contributed to her love of writing. With this background, she returned to artistic practice to find her own words, characters, and spaces, and to intertwine them all while continuing to eavesdrop on her sleep images.

Mystic dreamscapes often painted with violet tints, layered or semi-transparent, arise as calming yet sometimes spontaneously weird scenes where fantasy creatures can dwell.

The stories and illustrations of the books have their own philosophy, enchanting both for children and (perhaps even more so) for adults.
