Bio
Aliaksandr Biruk (b. 1992, Minsk) is a painter currently living and working in Warsaw. He received his initial training in easel painting before completing higher education in monumental painting. This dual background continues to inform his practice, in which painting is approached not simply as an image, but as the construction of a perceptual and psychological environment — a space that can be inhabited, not merely observed.
Biruk’s practice explores the recurring movement through which narratives dissolve and take shape again. He understands narratives as interpretive structures through which we organize experience, memory, and identity, and orient ourselves in the world. His paintings focus particularly on the fragile threshold at which established structures of meaning begin to loosen, before experience gathers into a new poetic configuration.
In 2024, Biruk received the Gaude Polonia scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of Poland. He has also completed several large-scale mural projects. His work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions in Poland, the United Kingdom, Georgia, and the Netherlands.
